Kit Kemp, interior designer and creative director of Firmdale Hotels, is the first guest editor of Homes & Gardens in its 101-year history. In this June issue she highlights some of her interior projects, giving ideas to make a home more individual and original.

Page 82-88: MASTER BEDROOM. Kit Kemp decorated the master bedroom using Chelsea Textiles hand-embroidered "Maria Sibylla" fabric as bed curtains, pelmet, bedcover, headboard, cushions and window treatment to ravishing effect. The fabric has been paired with a custom re-colouration of Raindrops hand-screen print by Chelsea Textiles.
Page 132: DRESSED TO IMPRESS. Chimney alcoves are ideal areas to carve out a space for reading or writing, and can make the most of an otherwise underused area. Find a small writing table that fits snugly between the walls – it doesn’t have to be very deep – then install open shelves up to the ceiling.
